Welcome to Haiku Festival's e-home!
- Haiku Fest is a FREE poetry event for children 8 to 14 years old. Over 3,500 children from Chicago area schools have participated in the Haiku Festival.
- We proudly announce that Converge Magazine profiled Haiku Festival in an article titled ''Haiku Festival Inspires Young Writers.'' Click here to read the article.
- Haiku Fest winners take home cash awards and prizes.
Each poet receives a Certificate of Achievement for participating, and has an opportunity to read her or his poem at the annual Awards Program. To be eligible for cash awards or prizes, poets must attend the annual Awards Program in Chicago.
- The DEADLINE for poetry submission is Saturday, 13 March 2010 @ 12:00 MIDNIGHT.
- Finalists will be announced 3 April 2010. Haiku Festival Awards will be issued Saturday, 24 April, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Carter G. Woodson Regional Library Auditorium, 9525 South Halsted, Chicago, Illinois. Winning Poets, Teacher-of-the-Year and School-of-the-Year must be present to read and accept their awards in person.
- Poetry Workshops are available for children and adults. If your organization is interested in sponsoring a reading or workshop, or you would like more info about Haiku Fest 2010, please contact us.
